Vehicle Principles
At ThormacEV, we are not interested in creating overglorified golf carts, nor are we interested in creating vehicles with serious maintenance issues. Quite simply, our conversions are Proper EV's:
- The resulting car will have comparable performance to the original
- Everything works (Air conditioning, heat, tachometer, the usual conveniences of a modern car)
- The resulting range will be 100 miles or better (using the Urban Driving test)
To that end, we currently use the following components :
- Commercial European EV AC Inverter:
- Monitors the motor and auxiliary systems for proper performance
- Liquid-cooled for reliability and lower weight
- Commercial European EV Motor
- Commercial-duty AC Motor:
- Regen braking (recharges the battery when you brake for better efficiency)
- No brushes to wear out
- Liquid-cooled
- 1/2 the size of an equivalent air-cooled motor
- 1/4 the weight
- Commercial-duty AC Motor:
- 33 KWh LiFePO4 Lithium Battery Pack
- Will not burn or explode like LiCo laptop batteries
- No "memory effect" like NiCd batteries
- 4x the range of Lead-Acid batteries
- 2x the power of Lead-Acid batteries
- 1/4 the weight of lead-acid batteries
- Manufacturer's estimated 3000 cycle life; 10 years or 300,000 miles of trouble-free service
